Barbara S. (Bullock) King passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 in Rolla, MO at Phelps Health Hospital.
Barbara was born in St. Louis, MO April 9, 1948 to the late Hursel and Elsie (Hayes) Bullock. On October 7, 1967 she married the love of her life, Donnie King in Vienna, MO. To this union three sons were born; Timothy, Terry and Jason.
Barb worked for many years at the St. James Leader Journal newspaper office until she joyously became a full-time grandma. She was an active member of Ft. Wyman Baptist Church in Rolla, MO where she frequently taught Sunday school, helped coordinate VBS, served on committees, won many church “cookoffs” and helped whenever she was needed. She lived her life in service to the Lord. She was a voracious reader and stray cat rescuer. Her care and concern for others was evident on a daily basis. She had the most beautiful and gentle soul.
Nowhere was her love more evident than her complete devotion to her family. She was an exceptional wife and proud mother of her boys. Her love never shone brighter however than when she spoke of and was in the presence of her grandchildren; Megan and Daniel. “Meme Barb” was their biggest cheerleader and present in every aspect of their lives. Through her loving example she helped guide and form them into who they have become today. She leaves behind countless beautiful memories.
She will be forever missed by her surviving family; sons Terry and Jason, daughter-in-law Ginger, granddaughter Megan (Jordan), grandson Daniel, great granddaughter Mackinley, sisters Betty (Walter) Dickens, brother Bill (Helen) Bullock, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Donnie, son Timothy, brother Jim and sister-in-law Anna Bullock, sister Helen and brother-in-law Harold Waldron and sister Martha Mae and brother-in-law Larry Garner.
A celebration of life will be held as soon as family and friends can safely gather together again. Private graveside services and Interment will be at the Wishon Cemetery in St. James, MO.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Ft. Wyman Baptist Church, â320 Fort Wyman Rd, Rolla, MO 65401.â
