Betty Jo Lavino, of Rolla, passed away  Sunday Dec.9, 2016. She was 90 years old. Betty was born in Springfield, Missouri on Oct. 23, 1926 to Glenn and Virginia (Rice) Burns. She married the love of her life, Carl Lavino, on June 28, 1946 in New York City. The couple moved to Rolla in 1955. Many in Rolla knew Betty by the nickname "Red", given to her by her husband in reference to her lovely auburn hair. Betty was an avid reader who loved dogs, old movies, British history and Miner basketball. She was also an excellent dancer, having once won a Jitterbug contest in her youth.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, her sister Dorothy Faught and nephew Dan Faught.  She is survived by daughter Lynn Walker and husband Pete, of Rolla; daughter Chris Stratman and husband Larry, of Rolla; grandson Josh Noe, of Rolla; granddaughter Jaymie Greenway and husband Michael, of Rolla; great-grandchildren Jack, Maddie and Sam Greenway, all of Rolla; and niece Marsha Naugle of Springfield. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew her.  A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church of Rolla, located at 803 North Main Street.  All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the new Rolla Animal Shelter: Meramec Regional Planning Commission, c/o SAVE, New Rolla Animal Shelter, #4 Industrial Drive, St. James, MO 65559.   Arrangements are under the direction of Rolla Cremation and Memorial.
