Bobby Halterman, Sr.

  1SGT Bobby Lee Halterman, Sr., Retired, U.S. Army, age 73, of St. Robert, passed from this earth on Monday, November 16, 2015.    Bobby was born on January 20, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa, a son to the late Robert and Evelyn (Mullin) Halterman. He was a 1960 graduate of East High School in Des Moines, Iowa.   Bobby met and married the love of his life, Susan Louise Collins at Fort Leonard, Wood, MO in 1965 while they were both serving in the military there.  They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 6, 2015.     1SGT Halterman served for 21 years in the United States Army in Preventive Medicine and Artillery Survey and enjoyed many duty stations to include Korea, 2 tours in Okinawa, Germany and was a Vietnam veteran.  He did basic at Ft Leonard Wood, MO and AIT at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He retired from the Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 1984 and from Civil Service (Artillery Survey Instructor) at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. During his retirement years he owned and operated three businesses, a German Restaurant in the Wichita Mountains located in Oklahoma, "The Farm" a club in Cyril, OK and a Residential Facility Allen's Hope for Boys in St. Robert, MO.  He enjoyed the game of golf immensely and fishing was a favorite of his.  He will be missed especially by his family and close friends!       In addition to his wife of 50 years, Bobby is survived by his four children: three sons, Mark David and Eric Brian Halterman both of Eagle River, Alaska and Bobby "Lee" Halterman, Jr. and his wife, Shavonne of Rogersville, MO; and one daughter, Jodi Lynn Halterman Nickerson of Springfield, MO.  Bobby has grandchildren who loved him dearly; Stephen "Ryan" and Zachary Chase Nickerson both of Springfield, MO; Rachel Kay Craft and husband, Jonathan of Rolla, MO; and Tyler Lee Halterman, Zoe Mae Halterman and Kyrin Zarek Wayne Halterman all from Rogersville, MO.  He was fortunate to have several great grandchildren; Mariah Lynn, Maddie Louise and Stephen Ryan "Hamlet" Nickerson, Jr, from Springfield, MO; Chase Tyler Craft from Rolla, MO; and another baby boy on the way, Silas Bobby Lee, due on his birthday January 20, 2016 from Rolla, MO. Bobby has two surviving brothers, Daniel Joseph Halterman and wife Candy of Des Moines, IA and Dennis Earl Halterman and wife Rose of Des Moines, IA.     In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by: a brother, Donald Leroy Halterman who preceded him in death in 2010 and a grandson, Zarek Ryan who preceded him in death in 2002.   Private family services and inurnment with full Military Honors will be held at a later date.   In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Family of Bobby Lee Halterman, Sr.   Arrangements are under the direction of Rolla Cremation and Memorial  (573-341-0220).
