Brenda Kay Thiltgen, age 63 of Newburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Phelps Health in Rolla.
Brenda was born on September 4, 1961, in Joliet, Il, a daughter to the late James R. Lewis and Charlene “Susie” (Harris) Lewis. Charlene survives of her home.
She was a 1979 graduate of Newburg High School and a member the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.
In April of 1981, Brenda was united in marriage to Mark Thiltgen. Mark preceded her in death on December 17, 2022.
Brenda had been employed with both the Newburg and Waynesville school systems and retired from Waynesville after 30 years.
Brenda enjoyed gardening, canning the vegetables she grew, and dabbled in photography. She was very crafty and made quilts with her mother as well as building furniture among other things. After Mark passed, she enjoyed taking trips with her friends to the beach and elsewhere. Breanda really appreciated all the support she received from friends after his passing and during her own fight with cancer . She was a phenomenal cook and loved feeding and taking care of her family. Above all, she loved going to her grandchildren’s sports and her best times were spent with family.
In addition to her mother, Charlene, Brenda is survived by: one daughter, Erin Thiltgen (Tony Perez) of Weatherford, Tx; one son, Kyle Thiltgen (Courtney) of Republic, Mo; three grandchildren, Melania Thiltgen, Leegan, and Breanna Perez; two sisters Lisa Green of Rolla, Judy Reeves of Texas, three sisters-in-laws, Margie Perney (Bill) of Newburg, Marilyn (Lonnie) Miller of Newburg, and Carol Coward of Newburg; three brothers in-laws, Eugene Thiltgen of Dixon, Wayne Thiltgen (Ladonna) of Claremore, OK, and Dale Thiltgen (Pat Lewis) of Crocker; as well many extended family members and friends .
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, James R. Lewis, two nephews, Craig Thiltgen and Anthony Thiltgen; two sisters- in-law, Kathy Thiltgen and Claudine Thiltgen; and a brother-in-law Danny Green.
There will be a graveside service on October 12, 2024 at St. Robert Bellamine Catholic Church Cemetery with a lunch following in the hall.
