Charles Michael “Mike” Hewitt, 87, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026.
Born on July 3, 1938, Mike lived a life defined by kindness, humor, and a genuine love for people. Over the course of his life, he built two successful and meaningful careers—first as the owner of his own barbershop, where he formed trusted relationships within his community, and later as a respected insurance agent with Prudential, where he served clients with integrity and care. In both roles, Mike was widely admired for his character, strong work ethic, and ability to connect with others.
From his first marriage to May (Davis), Mike was blessed with two daughters, Jan and Kim. Though that chapter of his life came to a close, it brought him the great joy of fatherhood. Later, Mike found the love of his life in Patricia (Croney). Mike and Pat were married for 43 years and shared a beautiful love story—one marked by deep devotion, joy, and true partnership—which was admired by all who knew them. It also gave him the opportunity to be a second father to Pat’s children, Kevin and Scott Bowman.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia (Croney) Hewitt; his parents, Elmo and Lorraine (Bridwell) Hewitt; his daughter, Jan; and his siblings, David, Dean, Neil, and James Hewitt, and Mary Ann Null.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Kim (Kalter); his stepsons, Kevin and Scott Bowman; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest pride, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Mike will be remembered for his kind heart, warm spirit, and great sense of humor. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, and it was often said that he was liked by everyone he met—a true testament to the man he was. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.
A memorial with immediate family will be held to celebrate his life and legacy.
