Christopher "Hermit" Lynn Bryant

Christopher “Hermit” Lynn Byrant, 67, of Rolla passed away on August 5, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on April 30, 1958, in Coldwater, Michigan to Joe Trim and Bonnie Hance-Trim. He attended school at Roosevelt High School in St. Louis, after which he served in the US Army from 1975-1980. After his active duty tour, he then served 6 years in the reserves during which he graduated from office candidate school as a second Lieutenant. After his military career he furthered his education at UMR (now Missouri S & T) where he graduated with honors and a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

On September 26, 2020, he married Nicki Davis-Bryant in Rolla, she survives at the home.

In addition to his service in the Army where he was a SP4 Motor Transport Operator he was an entrepreneur as he owned several businesses. The two most successful ones were 72 Home Sales where he worked as a mobile home salesman. However, the one he enjoyed the most was being a tailor completing custom orders for his online clothing business.

Christopher was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church as well as the Knights of Columbus. He was very proud of his membership and accomplishments in (Narcotics Anonymous)

Survivors include by his wife Nicki Davis-Bryant of Rolla, Mo; children Christopher Anothny (Angela) Bryant of California, Mo, Clifton Gann, Brittney Davey, Aiden Hoosline and Ava Davis of Rolla, Mo.; sister Darlene Holmes of St Louis, Mo, A host of nieces and nephews, 8 Grandchildren, and one Great Grandchild

He is preceded in death by a daughter Heather Bryant-Cook; parents Bonnie and Joe Trim; brothers James Trim and Stanley Bryant; Grandma Anne Tabor; and his great grandma Lula Stevens.

Christopher translates to "Christ Bearer" as it originates from its Greek name. Chris certainly lived up to his name, carrying Christ in his heart, through his relationship and love for Jesus and his service to others. His most passionate works were through his various service positions in NA, random acts of kindness and his charity work with the Knights of Columbus. Chris would help anyone in need without hesitation. He helped save the lives of countless addicts/alcoholics through his passion for recovery, God, and his own example set forth in the years of living life clean and sober. He loved his family wholeheartedly, which included his blood relatives, NA and church family and fraternal brothers with the Knights. Chris prided himself on being a family man. He took great honor in being a husband, father, provider and protector. Chris also loved raising kids. He had 2 biological children, 2 sets of bonus kids and a grandson he raised for years, often referring to fatherhood as some of his most rewarding work. Chris loved to cook. He found great pleasure in showing his love for others through the delicious dishes he made. He loved his sister Darlene dearly, always looking out for her and bringing her joy by ending their daily calls with a joke or witty one liners to make her laugh before saying goodbye. Chris was a devoted music enthusiast and accomplished writer, whose work ranged from captivating songs to the most beautifully elegant poetry. Chris loved singing in the choir throughout high school and college and had a melodious voice. He and his cherished son Christopher Anthony, a talented musician and singer songwriter, would often bond over music, writing songs together and sharing playlists or favorite artists. Chris had several hobbies including riding motorcycles with friends, watching sunsets with his wife, fishing, listening to music, writing, swimming, hanging out with friends, family, and his pets. Chris loved cuddling and snacking with the dogs and cat, rather that was in bed or on the floor, he never minded "breaking all the rules" when it came to them. You could often find Chris at home, it was his favorite place in the world and where he spent the most of his time, coining him the nickname "HERMIT". One of Chris's favorite past times was scouring the state for the best Biscuits & Gravy on Saturday mornings with his chosen brother Ricki Robinson. From Saturday morning B&G adventures to heart felt talks, and daily check-ins Chris greatly valued their time together. Chris loved deeply, everyone in his life was precious to him. He was empathetic, kind, humble, funny, patient and wasn't afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve. There's nothing he couldn't do. A self-taught, driven, intelligent man and advocate for education. He always said, "knowledge is the one thing no one can take from you." He admired strong women, a respect he gained from his mother and grandmother's. Anyone who knew Chris knew how much he loved his wife. They were close friends for years before dating and later marrying. They shared a mutual appreciation for God, nature, family, recovery and the simple things in life. "Chris is the guy you call at 3 am when you're stranded on the side of the road or because your life's falling apart. He's the guy who will love and accept you no matter what! He's the guy you can count on to pick up the phone, or to be there when life shows up. Chris is my best friend, my spirit bridge confidant, my biggest supporter, my mentor--teaching and empowering me in innumerable ways, my rock in hard times, my laughter when I need healing, my muse, my faith when I'm lost, my person, He is the best part of me, he is my home." ~Nicki Davis-Bryant (wife). Chris's soul was beautiful and his presence larger than life. He had the biggest heart, an unparalleled SMILE and gave the greatest, most healing hugs. Loved beyond words and missed beyond measure, Christopher "Hermit" Bryant left an indelible mark on the lives of many.
