Dennis R. Moersch

Dennis R. Moersch, age 69, of Rolla, MO passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Harry S. Truman Veterans' Memorial Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.    Dennis born on October 26, 1946 in Detroit, MI, a son to the late Kenneth & Loretta (Sanchez) Moersch.   Dennis was united in marriage to Judy Morton on March 4, 1967 in Houston, MO.  She survives of the home in Rolla. Dennis attended Franklin High School in Livonia, Michigan.  He joined the U.S. Army and served his Country honorably with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment "Blackhorse" unit.  His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.  Dennis was a classic car enthusiast, enjoyed fishing in the Ozarks, and the game of baseball.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family.  He was a baseball coach for many years in the Rolla Youth League where he made a difference in many kid's lives.  For many years Dennis worked as the Depot Supervisor for Colonial Bread Company.  He worked for the Unites States Geological Survey from where he retired in 2004 after 26 years of service. In addition to his wife of 49 years Dennis is survived by: three children, Wendy Johnson and her husband Kevin of Waynesville, MO; Randy Moersch and his wife Tonya and Tim and his wife Valerie all of Rolla; 4 Grandchildren, Katlyn Wachter and her husband Andrew, Ryan Johnson, Megan Johnson, Lauren Moersch and a great-granddaughter Jayleigh Wachter; two brothers, Michael Moersch and his wife Carol of Livonia, MI, and Thom Moersch and his wife Charlene of Walled Lake, MI; one sister, Diane Anderson and her husband Bob of Van Buren, MI;  a brother-in-law Gerald Morton and his wife Beth of Sun City, AZ, as well as many nieces, nephews and  friends. A military honors service will be held on Wednesday, March 30th at 3 p.m. at the Ft. Leonard Wood Veterans' Cemetery in Waynesville, MO with inurnment to immediately follow in the memorial columbarium.
