Donna Lu Thompson

Donna Lu Thompson passed away at the age of 83 on June 13, 2026, at home in St. James, MO, with both her sons by her side.

Donna was born at home on August 17, 1942, to Willis and Lueva Forbes in Sweet Springs, MO. She completed beauty school in Sedalia and went on to work as a beautician in Marshall and Sweet Springs, MO.

In 1991, Donna moved to the Branson area, where she worked at Silver Dollar City and then spent many years at Meeks Lumber in Kimberling City, MO, before retiring at the age of 74.

Donna was a hard worker who could often be found outside in the evenings tending her garden. In more recent years, she enjoyed sitting around the firepit making s’mores with her great-grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Lueva Forbes, and her sister, Darlene Robinson.

She is survived by her brother, Randall Forbes, and wife Cathie, of Alma, MO; her two sons, Forrest Thompson of Crane, MO, and Ryan Thompson and wife Dawn, of St. James, MO; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will be gathering for a private memorial in the near future.
