Dorothy Jackson

Dorothy J. Jackson, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on August 9, 2026, at the age of 88, in Rolla, Missouri. Born on August 5, 1938, in Dundee, Mississippi, to the late Elnora Mosley (Harris) and the late Chamblee McNarry, Dorothy lived a life defined by love, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.

Dorothy spent her early years in Mississippi before building a life that would touch countless people through her warmth and hospitality. As a young woman, she was a member of the Household of Ruth, where she first honed the gifts of hospitality that would become her hallmark. Those who knew Dorothy understood that she expressed her deepest love through the food she prepared and the welcome she extended to everyone who crossed her path. Her beautiful, radiant smile put people at ease, and she opened her heart without hesitation to anyone in need. There was not a family member, friend, or stranger seeking help whom Dorothy would turn away.

Dorothy dedicated more than 30 years of faithful service to St. Margaret's Hospital before retiring in 1998. Even in retirement, she never slowed in her desire to give back. For the past ten years, she generously volunteered her hospitality skills with H.O.P.E. Inc., a program serving homeless youth in Rolla, MO, and surrounding areas. She also served for many years as a senior companion with the Rolla Senior Companion Program, offering friendship and care to those who needed it most. Her life was a living testament to the belief that true fulfillment is found in service to others.

Dorothy was a devoted wife to her husband, John B. Jackson, and their marriage spanned more than 60 years of shared love and partnership. The greatest milestone of her life was her water baptism, through which she dedicated her life to Jehovah on November 4, 2001. Her faith was the foundation upon which she built everything, guiding her acts of kindness and strengthening her through every season of life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John B. Jackson; her mother, Elnora Mosley (Harris); her father, Chamblee McNarry; her grandson Michael C. Jackson; her brothers, Frank Harris and Eddie Lee Bass; and her sister, Ida Bell Swafford (Harris).

She leaves to cherish her memory 4 children; Rosetta, and husband Benny Smith of Las Vegas Nevada, John, and wife Jacquelyn, of Grand Prairie Texas, Janet, and husband Cliff Walker of Rolla MO and Alfaye Jackson of Rolla MO; two brothers, Willie Carr and Jimmy, and wife Almeda Mosley; four grandchildren, Jonathan Jackson, Aji Jackson, Cedrick Walker, Rashard Harris, and four great-grandchildren; DeAndre Jackson, Jordan Smallwood, Ivory Jackson and Daveon Finley, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were made richer by her presence.

Dorothy J. Jackson lived as she believed, with her hands open and her heart full. Her legacy of love, service, and quiet generosity will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in the peace of Jehovah's promise, held forever in His loving care.

John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The funeral service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Rolla, Missouri. September 10, 2026 @ 11:00 AM
