We are sad to announce that our mom and Oma, Edith Elisabeth Fairchild (Glock), age 70 of Waynesville earned her wings and joined her family in Heaven on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Edith was the third of four children born in Schluechtern, Germany to Wilhelm and Anna Glock of Schwarzenfels.
Edith spent many years working in the hospitality industry in Germany, Fort Leonard Wood and Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri where she met many of the friends who brought great joy to her life. While working for MWR on post, she also met her dear husband, Harold who spent many years after retirement working on post in the DFAC. He preceded her in death in 2012.
Edith's home was always open, serving as a gathering place for family and friends. Her snarky approach to life and sage advice made her a confidante to many, and her legendary German potato salad was a regular requirement at any function. Mom was our go-to when life got rough, our sanity in a world of craziness and our comfort when things went wrong.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Sandra Nelson (Ron Richley) of Smiths Station AL; Torsten Spahn (Goldie Spahn) of Waynesville MO; grandchildren Vivian, Victoria, Drake and Hunter Nelson; Caitlin and Lauren Enloe and Logan Spahn; great-grandchildren; Castiel, Scarlett, Melody and Freya; and nephew Jannick Glock and niece Melanie Specht. Her spouse, parents, sisters, brother, niece, nephew and brother-in-law are already celebrating in Heaven as she has earned her wings to join them.
Those remaining to cherish her memory will hold a celebration of Life on Saturday July 19, 2025, with internment at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville to be scheduled at a later date.
Memorial donations to cover final expenses and in lieu of flowers can be sent to PO Box 4170, Waynesville, MO 65583
