Harold “Hal” Byron Goree, II passed away peacefully on January 9th, 2026, at 7 pm at the age of 75, in Rolla, Missouri, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on July 28, 1950, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and lived a life grounded in devotion to his family and deep love for those closest to him.
Hal proudly served in the United States Navy for six years, beginning in 1969, a commitment that reflected his sense of duty and devotion to his country.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen Keener-Goree; his son, Michael Goree, and daughter-in-law Breene Goree, and their children Ryann Goree, Ayden Mosher, and Hartley
Goree; his daughter Adrienne Goree and her son Trip Gardemal; his daughter Sarah Goree and her son Bennett Byron Doré; his step-children, Joey and Jamie Keener; and his oldest granddaughter, Shelby Goree. He is also survived by his brother, Bryan Goree, and sister-in-law Katha Goree.
He was preceded in death by his beloved eldest son, Harold Byron “H.B.” Goree, III; his parents, Harold and Myrtle Goree; and his sister, Gayle Andrus.
Hal will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a steady, caring presence in the lives of those who knew him. His legacy of service, strength, and family devotion lives on through the generations he cherished.
Service arrangements will include interment at Fort Leonard Wood Veterans Cemetery on February 17th at 1 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held in Lafayette, Louisiana, to be announced at a later date
