James Anderson Maxwell

June 20, 1947 — September 18, 2021

James Anderson Maxwell

James Anderson Maxwell went to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the age of 74.

He was born in Rolla on June 20, 1947, to Guy Thomas Maxwell and Mary (Fannon) Maxwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings: Martin Maxwell, Willis Maxwell, Alice Rosenburg, Linda Dablemont, and Darlene James Perren.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Oden on September 2, 1977, resulting in 44 wonderful years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife Patricia of the home in St. James, MO; son James Patrick (Christina) Maxwell of Rolla, MO; spiritual daughter Bridgette Sigmon of the home in St. James, MO; 4 grandchildren: Matthew, Makayla, Lilliana, & Christopher; sister Lyda Mathis of O’Fallon, MO; brother Ernest (Lynn) Maxwell of Rolla, MO; sister-in-law Virginia Maxwell of Rolla, MO. Brother-in-law Tom Perren of Harviell, MO, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was greatly loved by his family and widely respected by many friends and acquaintances. He has been described by Patricia as “the wind beneath her wings” in their ministries; they founded City of Light & Life Ministries and DNA HUB, (which is a networking of ordained ministers, ministries, and churches.) He fully encouraged and supported Patricia and he himself participated in those ministries in every way. It was very common to find him listening to worship music and praising God with his whole heart.

Jim was also known in the community as “Cool Max”, which was the name of his self-ran HVAC business in the Rolla area. He was very hard working, running the entire business himself to ensure the job was done correctly. He also worked as the building manager of the USGS building in Rolla, MO for 15 years before retiring.

A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Rolla, MO. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. Until 1:00 p.m. with the celebration service starting at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Amy Dickens, Rev. Glen Hulsey, and Rev. Linda Garcia officiating. The obituary will be read by Vicky Reissing and music will be by Sotero Garcia.

Graveside services with Military Honors will follow immediately at the Wynn-Maxwell Cemetery. Dinner will follow at the church’s fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to JAM’s House (named after his initials). This is a house that Jim started for a faithful member of the church for over 25 years. This project was very important to his heart, and the family will see it to its completion in his honor.
