Jane Ellen Durnin

Jane Ellen Durnin, age 80, of Rolla, Missouri, passed away on June 12, 2026 at Silverstone Place in Rolla. Jane was born on December 15, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri to Evelyn (Vinyard) and Philip Durnin. She moved to California as a young adult and enjoyed a long career with the University of California-Irvine as an administrative/executive/research assistant, acting department manager, project/program administrator and technical editor. After moving to Missouri to be closer to family, she was the administrative assistant for the Department of Psychology at the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri S&T). She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters-in-law Philip (Alice) and Michael (Barbara) Durnin, and her niece and nephew-in-law Tracy (Steve) Hargis. She is survived by her niece Kelly (Jeff) Thieme of Collierville, TN, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Kent (Lindsay) Bagnall of Rolla, great-nephews John-Michael (Soraya) Hargis of Rolla, Adam Thieme and Joseph Thieme of Collierville, TN, nephews Patrick Durnin and Michael Durnin, niece Susan Durnin Roither, and best friend Susan Conrad Guinn, as well as many other relatives and dear friends. According to Jane’s wishes, there will be no funeral, and memorial gifts are requested to be made to the Rolla Animal Shelter.
