Katherine "Kitty" Bacon

Katherine “Kitty” Noerenberg Bacon passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020, in Rolla.

Kitty was born in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the daughter of the late Richard and Florence (Eddy) Noerenberg.

Kitty was raised in California, was married in 1956, and has two wonderful sons, Charles (Chuck) Dean Bacon and Dennis Lee Bacon. She moved to Salem, Missouri in 1957 and called Rolla home since 1971.

Kitty is survived by her son Chuck and wife Terrie of Schell City, Missouri, son Dennis, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, sister Alyce Dowda of San Diego, California and brother Larry Noerenberg of Concord, California. She is the proud grandmother of Steven, Kristie, Courtney, Kinleigh, Mac and Kaylee and great-grandmother of five. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a few great friends. Kitty was pre-deceased by her brother Richard and grandson Steven.

Kitty held many positions in the secretarial and accounting fields in the private and State sector from 1957 to 1977. She was employed by the U.S. Government in 1977 and held various clerical and secretarial positions until she was promoted to a Cartographic Technician in 1987. She retired from the U.S. Geological Survey in Rolla in 2003.

Cop-workers, family and friends benefited from her passion for baking. Birthdays and holidays meant special treats from her kitchen. For several years she baked and filled her little freezer and three or four times a year took bowls and platters of cookies to various businesses in Rolla. Her yard and flowers received lots of loving care and it was a high point for her when her yard was selected for the “Yard of the Month” award. Her sister said she could always find her house by the multitude of flowers on her porch and in her yard.

In keeping with Kitty’s wishes she was cremated and no services are planned.
