Mario Paez Ornelas, born on the 17th of October, 1938 in Tampico, Mexico, and a long-time resident of Rolla, Missouri, departed this life on the 25th of January, 2024, at the age of 84. He was a man of deep Catholic faith who lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a profound appreciation for the nature around him.
Mario's career spanned over 30 years as a skilled welder for a respected company in St. Louis, Missouri. His work ethic and steadfastness were a reflection of his character, both in his professional and personal endeavors.
He is lovingly remembered by his family, including his sisters, Rosa and Carmela Ornelas, who remain in Tampico and Tamaulipas, Mexico. His legacy of love and guidance lives on through his children: Benita L. Beem (Steven Beem), Pita Dillon (Jim Dillon), Rosalinda E. Ragan, all of Rolla, MO; Jesus M. Ornelas of Bandon, OR; Angelica M. Ornelas-Skaggs (William Skaggs) of Rolla, MO; Marcus Ornelas of Kansas City, MO; and Antone Ornelas of Farmington, MO. He was loved and will be greatly missed by many Grand children and great, great grand children and many many nieces and nephews and cousins.. Mario was preceded in death by cherished family members Eleodoro Ornelas (father) Benita Paez (mother), Gauadalupe H. Garcia, Juana Perez, and Enedina Jackson (Sisters)of Tampico and Tamaulipas, Mexico.
He attended Harlingen High School where he played football and graduated in Harlingen, TX, Mario's education laid the foundation for his successful career.
Throughout his life, Mario found solace and joy in the beauty of creation. He enjoyed drawing in sketch books and anything he found laying around. He spent many a tranquil hour watching the birds, observing the animals, and delighting in the blooms that adorned his view, embodying a spirit of serenity and contentment.
In his faith, Mario found strength and comfort. He was a Catholic by birth and held his beliefs close to his heart. His devotion was evident in the way he lived his life, with humility and grace.
Mario Paez Ornelas will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered not only for his unwavering commitment to his work and family but also for his gentle respect for all of God's creation. His memory will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
