Mary Verna (McGaugh) Roper, 78, passed away November 6, 2021, at Lake Regional Hospital.
She was born November 30, 1942, In Detroit Michigan, the daughter of Melvin and Margaret (Taylor) McGaugh.
Mary graduated from Springdale High School in Springdale, AR. Mary also received her Associates Degree at Southern Missouri State University in 1994.
Following graduating high school, Mary married the late Carl Roper Sr. They moved to Viola, AR and lived for 47 years.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved cooking, needle work, traveling, sewing, her church, and her community. She was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Stars where she served as the Worthy Matron of the Plato Chapter #240.
Mary is widowed by her first husband, Carl Roper, Sr. of Viola and second husband, Wilbur Johns of St Robert. Preceding Mary in death is Melvin McGaugh; Margaret (Taylor) McGaugh, sister Patricia, and brother William (Bill).
She is survived by 2 daughters Pamela Moss of Cypress, TX; Catherine Roper of Waynesville, MO; 2 sons, Carl Roper, Jr of Abilene, KS; James Roper of Plato, MO; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 9 brothers’ sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service has been planned grave side-December 4, 2021-at the Flora Baptist Church Cemetery, Viola, AR at 1:00 pm. Any memorials can be mailed to 171 Wayne Dr, Lakeview, AR 72642; however, lieu of flowers, memorials/donations may be made to your favorite charity.
