Pete W. Walker, age 72, of Rolla, passed away Aug. 14, 2018 in Columbia, Missouri. Pete was born February 16, 1946 in Charleston, Illinois, to Glenn and Harriet Hawkins Walker. He met the former Lynn Lavino in 1995 and they were united in marriage on May 30, 2006. Prior to retirement, Pete was employed as a master mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Joseph Walker; and a sister, Sara Walker Murphy. An avid outdoorsman, Pete enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Rolla Shooters Club. He was also known for his love of family, good barbecue and a good book, particularly the latest Stephen King novel. A lover of dogs, Pete was a past volunteer at the Rolla Animal Shelter. He was a lifelong fan of motorcycles, having once raced dirt bikes professionally. In his retirement days, Pete enjoyed many a ride on his Harley-Davidson. Pete also traveled extensively throughout the US, having visited several states. His most recent travels included vacationing in Siesta Key, Florida, with his wife, Lynn. The couple, who affectionately referred to each other as "Sparky" and "Sparkette," looked forward to their yearly trip. Pete's outgoing nature and love of conversation made him known to many throughout the community; he rarely exited a local business without having made a new friend. He cherished the moments spent visiting and talking with friends and family. He especially delighted in sharing stories with his sons and grandchildren, who appreciated his unique sense of humor and were happy to indulge his reference to his graying hair as "ash blonde." Survivors include his wife, Lynn Walker; son Peter Walker and wife Marquitta of Chesapeake, Virginia; son Greg Walker, and wife Mary Beth of St. Louis, Missouri, son Joshua Noe of Rolla; sister Sue Ellen Turner and husband Larry of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren Ryan Walker, Lane Walker, Chase Walker, Mason Walker, Nick Walker, Gregory Walker of St. Louis, Missouri; Allie Aldrich, Rachel Aldrich, Trever Walker and Mason Walker, of Chesapeake, Virginia; as well as several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, September 22nd at 1:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Rolla. All are invited to attend. Memorial donations may be made to the current Rolla Animal Shelter.
