Robert "Bob" Delphus Turner

Robert (Bob) Delphus Turner passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at his home on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the age of 75, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Bob was born October 26, 1947 to Delphus and Suezanne Turner at home in Newburg, MO.  He was a 1965 graduate of Newburg High School and a lifelong resident of the Newburg/Rolla area.  Bob was united in marriage to Sue (Peeler) Turner on February 1, 1975. They had one child, Stephen R. Turner.

Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sue Turner of Rolla; son Stephen Turner and wife Nanette of Rolla; grandchildren Alexis Turner and partner Brodie Chapman and Cameron Hardin all of Rolla; great grandchildren Ellie Chapman and Addeline Hardin; two sisters, Jeannie (Turner) Bergtholdt and husband Steve of California, Peggy (Turner) Baker of Rolla; Brothers-in-law: William (Bill) Peeler, Ray Barnett and wife Jane, both of Rolla and James Barnett and wife Laura of Georgia; 17 nieces and nephews.

Bob was a man of many talents and varied interests.  In his teenage years, muscle cars were the rage and he was the proud owner of a Pontiac GTO “Judge” and a Chevrolet Camaro. He delivered mail in rural Newburg, was a Deputy Sheriff of Phelps County and ultimately retired from the U.S. Bureau of Mines.  But his real passion was buying and selling, a true trader at heart who loved the art of bartering. This passion led him to become an auctioneer and more recently he and his wife began selling antiques and collectibles.  He loved the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting.  This led him to take the trip of his life with two best friends to South Africa.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 10:30 am at Greentree Christian Church immediately followed by a Celebration of Life/Fellowship that will include refreshments and sharing memories between family and friends.

The family will always be thankful for the care and compassion provided at this difficult time by those at Phelps Health Hospice.  Memorial contributions are suggested to this amazing organization – phelpshealth.org
