Robert E Dodds Sr

Robert E. Dodds, Sr. passed away on 21 August 2025 at the Life Care Center in Waynesville, Mo. Bob was born in Waynesville, Missouri on 17 September 1933 to Ella and Ellis Dodds. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert E. Dodds, Jr., his former wife, Norma Dodds, and his two brothers, Jim and Bill Dodds. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.

Bob loved his family and often bragged about his son's accomplishments in music, business and life. On many occasions he would talk about his grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan and Briana Matyi Dodds and boast of their unique talents.

Bob was a member of the 1951 Tiger Basketball Team that nearly won the Missouri State Championship. Their story was reminiscent of "Hoosiers" and inspired their induction into the Waynesville High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He loved his teammates and spoke of them often. He was also an avid bowler and tennis player and loved athletics of all kinds. Bob was a US Army Veteran serving in Japan during the early 1950's.

For years he owned and operated Bob Dodds Sundries on the Waynesville Square where many school kids and business people would visit daily. Later in life he operated Jim's ShurQuick Market in Buckhorn where he was known by many.

Bob was an accomplished artist who had a passion for painting. He loved animals and nature and his happiest times were spent outdoors with his beloved little dog, Bubba.

He cherished his friends from the Lake of the Ozarks (Rita and Phil Hagan) who would drive down to Life Care to take him on drives where he could reminisce about growing up in Waynesville and Devils Elbow. Bob loved living in "The Elbow" surrounded by the Debo's, the Rench's, Mary and Shelly and all the other good neighbors and friends that were always willing to help. They're a tight knit community of good people. Bob will be missed by the many friends who knew him and enjoyed his company.
