Shirley Ann Moriarity

Shirley Ann Moriarity, 86, of Rolla passed away on Monday July 27, 2026, in Rolla. She was born February 02, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana to John Bernard and Inez (Coogan) Lents.

She graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1958.

Shirley opened her own bookstore called Eclipse Books & Comics which she operated for nearly 20 years. She created a welcoming place where customers could enjoy books and gaming, exchange ideas, and feel at home. She sold the bookstore in 2002 and began retirement. In retirement she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She enjoyed spending her time reading, knitting, playing Uno with her grandchildren, gardening, and watching Jeopardy. She also fully embraced her Catholic faith.

Shirley is survived by three daughters Laura (Randy) DeSplinter of St. Charles, Missouri, Amy (Dick) Young of Rolla, Mary Moriarity of Washington, Missouri; grandchildren David (Sarka) DeSplinter, Adam (Alyssa) DeSplinter, Sean (Paige) Young, Sarah (Jimmy) Young, Olivia Young, and Derrick (Allison) Hall; great grandchildren Franklin, Henry, Rozalie, Izabela, Savannah, and Derron.

She is preceded in death by a daughter Sarah Kathleen Moriarity.

There will be a private service at a later date.
