Steve Glenn Forbes

Steve Forbes was born October 4, 1947, in Decatur, Illinois and died at the age of 77 on October 8, 2024, in Rolla, Missouri. He died at his home with the support and care of his family and hospice after a battle with lung cancer.

He attended Eisenhower High School before serving his country in the US Army Signal Corps in Korea. Then he worked as a union sheet metal worker until his retirement 35 years later. He was an avid fisherman, especially trout, an accomplished coppersmith, nature photographer and volunteered for both Baxter Regional Medical Center and the US Forest Service.

He was grateful for the life he lived and the people he met. He often spoke about the wonderful childhood he shared with his brothers and playing Little League baseball with his team the Dixie Boys.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanne (Nugent) Forbes, brothers Dennis and Terry Forbes, and his sons Rod, Tom, and Dan Forbes, grandchildren Emily, Jacob, Ike, Calvin, Zachary, Alyssa and Birdie Forbes, great granddaughter Amelia Forbes, and many sisters-in-law, daughters -in-law, niece and many nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Glenn and Marjorie Hoover Forbes, his brothers, Mike and Duane Forbes, and his son, Joey Forbes.

His greatest joy in life was being with Joanne and supporting his family. He will be dearly missed.
